What Money Can Buy

The six silk-screen prints, featuring the model painted in the style of Andy Warhol's Marilyn Monroe pictures, sold for five times its estimated value. The artist Banksy sold the paintings for 50,400 GBP, setting an auction record for his work.

His stencil of a green Mona Lisa with paint dripping from her eyes sold for £57,600 at the Sotheby's auction. I believe Kate Moss was happy about Banksy using her image in an iconic way. I wonder if she gets a cut?

The attention grabbing artist has become well known for his controversial stunts, including tampering with Paris Hilton's CD, replacing copies with his own remixes and giving them titles such as Why am I Famous? and What Have I Done?

He also changed the CD sleeve to show Hilton topless and with a dog's head.

Last month the artist placed a life-sized replica of a Guantanamo Bay detainee inside the Disneyland theme park in California.
